Weigh Day 2

By Debbie May

Today is "Weigh Day 2"..... the completion of week 2 of my new adventure.

I am excited to announce that this week I lost 3.8 pounds!!! That makes a total of 9 Boxes of Chocolates lost in this adventure!! Woohoooo!!

In keeping with the Jenny Craig philosophy of "Food, Body, Mind" I have updated my goals:

Food Goal:
I need to eat more "free" vegetables.....even when I am not hungry. I really like the Jenny Craig food and portion sizes are decent so sticking to the diet hasn't been a problem.

Body Goal:
I did not meet my goal of riding the stationary bike 3 days a week for 10 minutes a day. I only rode it once all week. I felt great that day and frankly just found excuses not to do it the other days. This week I really want to focus on my body goal. Instead of saying "three days a week", I am going to set the days as Monday - Wednesday - Friday.

Mind Goal:
I met my goal of buying a book....now my goal is going to read it! My goal is to read 100 pages this week. I know I need to take time for myself. It is just so hard saying "no" to others that demand my time.

Staying Motivated

By Debbie May

I view my life as an adventure. God put me on this earth to be a good wife, mother, and friend. I deeply believe I have the destiny to help others. Some days it is a struggle but that is okay. No one said life would be easy.

Weight loss is an adventure. It isn’t easy, but no one has said or implied it would be. Everyday requires self motivation. I have a simple 4 step approach to help me stay motivated.

  1. Each night...I PLAN my food intake and exercise for next day. I would never travel to a new city without planning my vacation, why would I embark on this adventure without planning my meals and exercise?

  2. Each day...I IMPLEMENT my plan. I pack my lunch because portions at restaurants are just too big and are often filled with needless calories, fat and sodium. I exercise for accomplishment.

  3. Each day...I WEIGH myself. I like my new Tanita Scale because it monitors my weight, body fat composition and water weight. Some days I wake up thinking "Boy, I feel fat" only to get on the sale and see that I am down 1% in body fat. I find real, hard data to be very motivating!

  4. Each night....I REFLECT on the day. I think about current challenges. I try to imagine future challenges. I find that reflecting is relaxing and helps manage the anxiety of the adventure.
No matter your adventure, this 4 step approach can help you. In business my four steps would be called planning, implementation, evaluation and revision.

It is the motivation that must come from within. Some days it is a struggle but that is okay. No one said the adventure would be easy.

Weigh Day 1

By Debbie May

I am excited to announce that this week I lost 5.2 pounds.....that is 5.2 Boxes of Chocolates!! Woohoooo!!

Since Jenny Craig has the philosophy of "Food, Body & Mind". I am going to start setting weekly goals along these three principles. This weeks goals are as follows:

Food Goal:
To strictly stick to the menu plan.

Body Goal:
Riding the stationary bike 3 days a week for 10 minutes a day.

Mind Goal:
Go to the bookstore and buy a book that I have been wanting to read but couldn't find the time. In other words, I am going to make time for myself!

My Top 10 Reasons

By Debbie May

My top 10 reasons for losing weight. For all you skinny bitches…I hope your not shocked! Remember I love you and your support!!

Top 10 reasons I want to lose weight:

  1. I want to comfortably sit in any chair with arms.
  2. I want to shop at a regular size store with cute and expensive outfits.
  3. I want to see my “hair down there” without looking in the mirror.
  4. I want boobs that are “less than two handfuls each”.
  5. I want to order at a restaurant and not wonder if the waitress is thinking “she needs a salad”.
  6. I want to hold my daughter on my lap instead of knees.
  7. I want to dance with my husband and feel like we are cheek to cheek…not belly to belly.
  8. I want to have more energy.
  9. I want to look at a picture and say “damn I look good”.
  10. I want the piece of mind that I will live longer for my family and kids.
Please note that at the request of my husband this post was modified on 2/5/2010. Reason number 4 was changed from "less than a handful" to "less than two handfuls each". It's a minor compromise to keep my man happy!!
